Description of Work:

Located in the Ace Basin, Bennett’s Point Field Station was a new construction project for the South Carolina Dept. Natural Resources. It included offices, dorms, an observation tower, conference center, and an educational laboratory for training student marine biologists. The client wanted to achieve maximum use of recycled or “Green” Products and techniques wherever possible. This approach resulted in a scope which included low maintenance exterior finishes, on-site milled trees for the wood flooring and a waste management plan to minimize the creation of demolition and construction waste on the project. In conjunction with the waste management plan, high efficiency appliances and a geothermal HVAC system were included to lessen the burden of costs and waste.
