Description of Work:
Project entailed the addition of approximately 65,000 square feet consisting of site and building demolition, grading, storm drainage, asphalt bus loop and parking areas, concrete foundations and floors, load bearing masonry, steel joist, standing seam metal roof, terrazzo flooring and other finishes, food service equipment, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. New construction interior spaces included administration/guidance areas, commons area, kitchen, cafeteria, media center, gymnasium, and multipurpose room. The facility’s gym and multipurpose room served both educational and civic functions including city league sports, weddings, plays graduations, and much more for the community. Renovation of approximately 80,000 square feet is also included in this work.

This project called for the construction of a new state-of-the-art two-story elementary and middle school of approximately 187,000 square feet consisting of sitework, utilities, storm drainage, asphalt bus and parking areas, vibro-replacement (stone columns), concrete foundations and floors, load bearing masonry, structural steel, standing seam metal roof, casework, kitchen equipment, sand based terrazzo flooring and other finishes, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. The addition of a neighborhood school on Daniel Island that children can walk or ride their bikes to is certainly welcomed by the residents.

The facility will be a multi-story facility. The lower level will house the gym and locker room facilities. The main level will house the administrative area, media center, cafetorium, kitchen, related arts and sixth grade. The upper level will house the seventh and eighth grades.

This project called for the addition of an 8,000 square foot Multi-Purpose/Gymnasium to Shell Point Elementary School as well as the enlarging of several existing classrooms.
Gym info: 8000 SF facility consisting of 12” split face masonry walls and roof system utilizing a lightweight insulating concrete deck and built-up bituminous roofing system. The gymnasium floor was covered with synthetic athletic flooring and stage area with wood flooring. Manufactured aluminum canopies were installed at entrances and adjacent sidewalks.
The growing needs for this school required a project to add additional square footage in the classroom setting and provide the school with a new multi-purpose/gymnasium area. The new construction consisted of brick veneer walls and a roof system utilizing a lightweight insulating concrete deck and built-up bituminous roofing system. The gymnasium floor was covered with synthetic athletic flooring and a new stage area with wood flooring and trim for the students and faculty to use for various activities. Manufactured aluminum canopies were installed at entrances and adjacent sidewalks to beautify the access points for visitors and students as well as keep everyone dry on rainy days.
