Construction Manager Job Purpose: Completes construction projects by planning, organizing, and controlling projects; completing quality inspections; supervising Subcontractors and staff.

Construction Manager Job Duties:

Construction Superintendent

The superintendent is responsible for managing all day to day aspects of their assigned project(s) from the beginning through Certificate of Completion. Including, coordinate all construction activities with subcontractors; ensuring work is completed within quality and timeframe expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans weekly project activities and provides direction to the subcontractors on the work to be performed with direction from Project Manager.
  • Drive the project construction and manage scheduling program updates.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure building construction is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Conduct weekly safety and planning meetings with subcontractors. Identify subcontractor noncompliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Coordinates and manages the scheduling of subcontractor work and materials deliveries.
  • Monitors the quality and progress of all construction work and provides updates to the Project Manager.
  • Identifies and informs the Project Manager of the need for change orders when they occur.
  • Verify all necessary inspections have occurred and been approved through the building process.

Construction Site Safety Health Officer

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The SSHO must ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
  • The SSHO must be at the work site at all times to implement and administer the Contractor’s safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.
  • Provides communication, training and enforcement of policies.
  • Makes recommendations on safety improvements.
  • Conduct job hazards analyses to identify hazards and potential risks.
  • Complete workplace safety audits and ensure remedial action where necessary.
  • Implement and enforce accident prevention plans and activity hazard analysis, and ensure contractor compliance with all safety and health requirements.
  • Conducts daily walkthrough of the site ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work.
  • Develop site-specific safety programs/plans to include emergency actions, response, evacuation and security plans.
  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and mishap investigations.
  • Provide safety indoctrination to all construction site visitors and new employees.

Qualifications

  • The SSHO must have the required training, experience, and qualifications in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Section 01.A.17, and all associated sub-paragraphs.
  • 5+ Years of demonstrated consecutive experience as a Safety Manager, Safety Supervisor, or SSHO.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with coworkers, contractors and regulatory agencies
  • OSHA-30
  • Evidence of 8-hours of yearly continued education & training as a construction safety professional.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Video conferencing experience preferred.
