Description of Work:

This project consists of 11,350 square feet of renovation (old 3 story Jackson County Courthouse) and a new 2 story addition consisting of 20,251 square feet for the New Jackson County Library. Exterior is painted brick to match existing courthouse. The old courthouse building was built in 1912. Exterior features of old courthouse such as brick jack arches and cornice trim are duplicated for the new building.  A glass atrium will connect the two buildings.

Total square feet on this project is 31,601 square feet. The planned library complex will quadruple the library’s current space, with the new addition housing most library operations and the old Courthouse offering meeting rooms and quarters for the county’s historical society, genealogical society and arts council.

Renovations consisted of removing and installing all new interior and exterior doors and finish hardware, removal and installation of new toilet partitions, ceiling tiles, removal and installation of two new aluminum exterior stairs assemblies, removal of roof fall protection system, installation of new roof guardrails, refurbishing of exterior roof access ladders.
