The project was to construct a new Appalachian Ranger District Office and provide complete, operational heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing and fire protection systems. This a one-story, 7,500 square foot building, wood framed with an architectural standing seam metal roof, HVAC system has 18 geo-thermal wells, water efficient plumbing fixtures and automated lighting systems.
The District Office was originally slated to be certified as LEED Silver but met the qualifications for and is certified as LEED Gold. The ID is 0010075891. Some of the LEED principles incorporated include: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in upgrades, operations and maintenance.
