The core contains administration, gymnasium, kitchen, media center and combined dining/multipurpose room. Construction type is concrete slab on grade with spread footings, steel frame superstructure, elevated floor slab, masonry and architectural metal exterior curtain walls, standing seam and modified bituminous roofing.
The mechanical system consists of water source heat pumps, gas fired boilers and closed circuit cooler. Site work included general site grading of the 26.5 acre tract of land, asphalt driveways and parking lots, gravity sewer main and manholes, water main, storm drainage, erosion control, and irrigation/landscaping. The building is a full sprinkler design with a wet pipe system.
This project implemented sustainable principles including energy efficient principles such as motion activated light sensors, natural daylighting, light fixture occupancy sensors, and construction waste management. The District chose not to seek certification due to the expense.
