This 2 story, kindergarten through 5th grade, fully sprinkled 65,000 square foot building is constructed predominantly of load bearing masonry veneered with brick and including limited structural steel. Steel joists, metal deck, and other miscellaneous pieces comprise the remainder of the steel components. Two roofing systems are utilized including a modified bituminous sheet system and standing seam metal. Air-to-air heat pump systems are used for the majority of the spaces with a separate make-up air system providing outside air.
This project also includes an elevator, basic electrical services, electrical life safety systems, technology items, and cable trays. Architectural features include an entrance similar to turn of the century school houses. The core includes classrooms, lavatories, administrative offices, lockers, cafeteria, kitchen, media center and combined dining/multipurpose room.
This project implemented sustainable principles including energy efficient principles such as natural daylighting, light fixture occupancy sensors, and construction waste management. The District chose not to seek certification due to the expense.
